The Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS) has been the nation’s premier provider of Homeland Security education since 2002. Creek Technologies is seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Operations Coordinator in support of the Naval Postgraduate School Center of Homeland Defense and Security. The position of an Operations Coordinator (OC) has two central responsibilities. 1) To provide a wide range of operational and logistic support to the participants of CHDS’s various programs. 2) Assisting the Academic Programs Director with the many routine and non-routine activities associated with leading contractor support for the master’s degree program, and preparing for and conducting successful courses. While most of these tasks can be identified, the position also requires the flexibility to adapt to unexpected situations. The successful candidate will work with a team to prioritize, organize and provide operational logistics support to the participants, faculty and invited guests of the Center.
• Event coordination • Travel and lodging arrangements • Classroom logistics • Purchase/budget requests • Executive-level communication • Small group public speaking • Track monthly instructor reports • Create presentations using PowerPoint, Keynote or Prezi • Monitoring class projects, status reports, student participation and journal submissions • Record keeping • Duties as assigned
• Applicant must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to pass a background check • Possess a current and valid state driver’s license. • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently. • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. • Must be able to lift and carry light loads without encountering any physical limitations.
Undergraduate degree is preferred or an equivalent of education plus experience.
Two or more years administrative and/or logistics support. Experience in an academic or executive-level setting a plus.
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications • Demonstrate excellent verbal/communicative skills • Experience with customer service • Ability to handle multiple tasks • Experience with administrative support • Ability to troubleshoot and efficiently prioritize issues • Demonstrate excellent phone communication skills • Experience with the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) a plus Physical requirement: The candidate must be able to lift and carry light loads without encountering any physical limitations. The candidate will be expected to be able to setup and breakdown the classrooms for each in-residence session.
