Creek Technologies is seeking a full time, on-site Junior UI Designer to support the visual direction of our digital department at The Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS). CHDS has been the nation’s premier provider of Homeland Security education since 2002. This is a hands-on role that will be assisting in wireframes, user process flows, and layout of dynamic webpages to support our efforts in strengthening our national security leadership programs.


The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, goal-oriented team player who has excellent written and verbal communication skills, a good sense of design, an awareness of current trends in the web and design industry. A working knowledge in web standards based HTML5, CSS3 and WordPress is important. Must be capable of assisting in developing a digital style guide based on user elements, layout specifications, compliance standards and brand guidelines.


• This position is located on a military institution, candidate must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to pass a federal background check • Must possess a current and valid state driver’s license. Residence in the Monterey area is required • Web portfolio of work that reflects creativity, process, and design thinking to analyze the interaction of user controls and design. • Creative thinker who enjoys participating with a team to assess project needs, can recommend innovative solutions, address client feedback in a professional manner, meet project and messaging goals and respect deadlines.


Bachelor’s degree with focus in Web/UI Design or equivalent industry experience along with an understanding of current web design practices and standards.


Experience or background with government, military, security, defense, education or writing is a big plus.


Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently • Must be able to lift and carry light loads without encountering any physical limitations • Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, HTML5/CSS3, Trello and Slack. Additional understanding and work with Sketch, InVision, Javascript, and PHP are a big plus.
